How to Become a Vegetarian? It's Easier Than It Seems

22.12.2018

Some people try to switch to the vegetarian menu slowly, gradually, while others — dramatically and irrevocably change their way of life. The main task — is to realize, feel your normal rhythm, the one that works for you, and stick to it in the future, with a vegetarian diet. In the transition to vegetarianism there is no need to become an ideal vegetarian instantly.

Life without meat

In fact, it is easy to exclude meat from the many dishes that you know and love. Remove beef from spaghetti, tacos and chili; do not put pepperoni in pizza and ham in grilled cheese. You can add more vegetables to your dishes, use soy protein, tofu or other meat substitute if you really want it, or just remove the meat and enjoy the dish as it is. Most of your favorite dishes can be easily made vegetarian with just a little change.

Give a chance

Did you know that most people need to try new food dozens of times before they decide they like it? If you first tried any vegetarian food and immediately felt hatred for it, try to give this dish another chance.  Try new vegetarian foods several times before making a decision.

Eliminate "failure" from your vocabulary

Many newly minted vegetarians already have a bad experience. Just because you're a coward and you've eaten meat doesn't mean you've all failed, it just means you've eaten meat. Don't let them command you. Just stay the course and don't turn anywhere. Still, strict vegetarianism will require some time to get used to.

Ignore someone else's opinion

"You're doing it wrong" - often say not only new vegetarians, but even vegans, they probably do not just go through that the world does not fit into their view. Ignoring everything creates some difficulties from time to time, but in reality it is better to focus on what you are doing and why, even if in contrast to someone else's opinion. Easier said than done, but seriously, if you can ignore rude comments, the process of becoming a vegan will be much shortened.

 Read some good cookbooks

There are many amazing vegetarian cookbooks that can expand your menu, offer you new dishes and make life much more exciting. Also check out the cooking blogs and YouTube channels.

Diversify nutrition

If your vegan menu only includes spaghetti, vegetarian freeze and French fries, then your health will definitely suffer, you will feel worse than ever and will blame the new lean diet for everything, thereby prompting you to probably even give up. You should definitely stick to a balanced diet-whole-grain products, vegetables and proteins, also allow yourself a little dessert. Get some vegan buddies. If you are familiar with vegetarians in everyday life than it's very cool!

Communicate!

Go together to a vegetarian restaurant or cafe, talk, cook together and rejoice that you have a soul mate. If you are not surrounded by vegetarians, communicate on forums where you can meet such people, ask questions, discuss problems or exchange views.
